Install Tip
You should never install dryer venting over 25 feet. The "exhaust velocity" is lost over such a span of venting, and could cause lint buildup.
90 degree elbows should be counted as 5 feet.
The Need to Vent
During a recent service call on a dryer, MARS Service Technicians found this incorrectly installed dryer venting in the crawlspace to be the issue.
Our Technicians properly installed new, fire retardant venting, which included a dryer vent hood to release the air outside the house.
What's Inside
After removing the vent, the Technicians discovered a massive buildup of soggy lint. This buildup doesn't allow the heat from the dryer to be vented. This causes the dryer to work harder than it should, which can lead to electrical failure, mechanical failure, and a potential fire hazard.
